Founder and Head of Animation

After graduating from Edinburgh College of Art in 2009, Owen’s degree film “Welcome To Twister” was nominated for a number of awards including a Scottish New Talent Bafta and the prestigious McLaren Award at the Edinburgh International Film Festival.

Early in his career Owen worked as an animation assistant on Iain Gardner’s Oscar shortlisted “The Tannery” and has since worked on numerous projects as a freelance animator and VFX artist for clients such as Sky, Warner Brothers, Uber and the BBC. He also spent time working as a production designer and vfx artist on various live action independent short films including Scottish New Talent Bafta winning “Entwined”.

He now runs The 2D Workshop, a 2D animation, VFX and music production company based in Edinburgh. The 2D Workshop’s first short, Toonocalypse, directed by Owen, has screened at festivals all over the world and since going online has been viewed over 50,000 times across Vimeo and Youtube.

The film has received very positive feedback for its writing and its visuals and, since going online, has received over 50k views across a variety of platforms.

Creative Concoction
